# 489 Jessica Baruth Buell XB 12 R

Women in Motorsport never have it easy. If they are going slow, they get an extra laugh, if they are going fast the boys try everything to hunt them down and often miss the fairplay. Girls in Motorsport have my greatest respect.

Jessi I met a couple of years ago on a Supermotorace and was impressed about her Speed and Performance going with the best names in Supermotoracing, but also I was a bit shocked how rude the competition is in that races.

We talked about a testride on a Buell, (what we had done, but it was a total rainy day) and in case that she quit Supermotoracing, I offered her a XB cockpit in one of the clubrace competitions. After the 2007 season she quit racing to find the time to put more power in her education and after we had to look for new riders, it comes in my mind that the time could be right to ask her.

She was not racing for 2 years and was not sure if she should do it. I told her she must not race, so we agree that she is rolling a bit around and if she feels ok, she can race. I was sure that her racersinstinct is still there and that she, if there is a compeition, she like to join it. Racers are Racers...

On the Track

And I was right. Our Buell XB 12 R are full racebikes using our latest Monocoque and Bodywork. They are equipped with the factory Race ZTL², 1125R forks and a powerful 1200cc shortstroke M-TeK engine with a Slipperclutch.

So from that side all was there to get a good start, but Jessi had never rode a bigger racebike before. So the idea was really just to get familar with the reaction of this much more powerful, but also much heavyier bike.

But as expected all was going well and smooth and her laps going after a half day of acclimatisation quicker and quicker.

Still with only one day of free practice on Friday before the timepractices starting on Saturday it tooks a lot of disciplin and skills to come on speed.

Qulifying and Race

At the www.art-motor.de Biketoberfest at the Oschersleben Racetrack Jessica managed to put the bike on the 9th startingplace, what means that she had let 2/3 of the field in the Qualifying behind her.

In the Thunder B.E.A.R.S she is competing with bikes like a Triumph Street Triple, Ducati 748 R and BMW 1200 S, all bikes who can really go fast with a skilled rider.

In the Saturday afternoon race Jessica got a good start and push from the beginning. In the end she finished 7th and got a new personal fastest lap with 1:42,218.

For the Sundaymorning Warmup Alex and Christian prepared the bike with a different setup and she found some more speed.

In the race later, Jessis start was absolute top and she was going laptimes faster than ever. Her fastest lap was 1:41,418 and the whole team was cheering when she was going over at Stanislav Klouchek, the Czech Ilmberger Importer, on his very nice builded BMW R 1200S.

At the end she finished 5th. What a result for a 23 year old girl competing first time on a Buell with the big boys!

Christop Hellmich winned both races, Bernd Zwanzig on Ducati got second. New Pro B.E.A.R.S Champion is (again) Dirk Mothes, Congratulations!
